Lofoten and Vesteralen (2025)

After our first trip to Norway, it became impossible to resist the unique beauty of this northern country.

This past April, we traveled to Norway once again, this time exploring the regions of Narvik, the Lofoten Islands, and Vesteralen. Despite the constantly changing weather conditions, we were able to spend every day in the mountains, except for one rainy day. Even then, we made the most of our time by visiting the Narvik War and Naval Museum.

Ski mountaineering in these regions is an unforgettable experience. Steep mountain faces rising directly from the sea and majestic fjords create one of the most unique and awe-inspiring ski destinations on the planet. The experience is further enriched by staying in Rorbuer, traditional fishermen’s cabins found mainly in the Lofoten Islands but also in other coastal and island areas. While these cabins were originally used by fishermen, they have since been transformed into comfortable tourist accommodations.

There are many destinations and countries that interest us for ski mountaineering, but Norway has truly captivated us. One thing is certain: we will return to ski again somewhere in this remarkable country.

The snow in this continental country remains in its initial form due to minimal humidity
